Do I Have to Pay Zakah on My Hajj Savings?
Hajj is a pillar of Islam and many people start saving for years in order to pay for their trip. However does zakah need to be paid on these savings, especially with Zakah being another pillar of the religion? This is answered and explained by Imam Mohammed Mahmoud who is the Senior Imam at East London Mosque & London Muslim Centre. In the past 1400 years, the masjid of the prophet (ﷺ) has expanded from its original size to cover what was the size of Madinah at the time of the prophet (ﷺ). Within the grounds and the mosque is a huge amount of history which can easily go unnoticed. Much of this history is located around various pillars, all with inscriptions made by the Ottomans.
