Is Hajj Obligatory if I Once Had the Funds but No Longer Can Afford It?
Hajj is obligatory for all Muslims who are able to once in their lifetime. What if you had the means and the money at one point, but since then can no longer afford it, would you be sinful? This is answered and explained by Imam Mohammed Mahmoud who is the Senior Imam at East London Mosque & London Muslim Centre. In addition to leading prayer and delivering Friday sermons, he provides religious guidance to congregants, runs Islamic classes and engages in various outreach and interfaith projects.

A du'a made by the comedian Hasan Minhaj which was aired on his show 'Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj' has caused some controversy. Ustadh Shabbir Hassan shares his thoughts.

Ustadh Shabbir only commented on the du'a part of the video however at the end of the clip, Hasan Minhaj described Allah as "the man upstairs". Whilst I understand that such a phrase is used in American vernacular to refer to a Creator, no Muslim should describe Allah like that because Allah is not a man but He is the Creator of mankind. We hope Hasan can realise his mistake and educate himself on how to speak about Allah in a manner which befits Him. A reminder to all: Intentions are important in Islam however the action has to be correct as well. - Admin Rafiq
